The van der Gun family from Yerseke, The Netherlands, is one of the largest poultry farmers in the province of Zeeland, housing over 170.000 chicks. The total surface area of their farm is around 9000 square meters. To equip a recently extended barn with new fans, Jerry van der Gun, the owner of the poultry farm, started his search for new fans.
“The price per fan is easily earned back through the easy cleaning and the excellent energy efficiency. The result is that the barn is now the “most economical barn” and that the fans can be cleaned very quickly.
Prior to his latest purchase, various barns were already fully equipped with Multifan panel fans for minimum ventilation. These fans were originally installed in 2001. As one of the barns was now being extended, the fans were also to be replaced.
When choosing new fans, energy consumption was an important factor for Jerry. This was partly due to an issue he had in a different barn. Seven years ago, during the construction of his new barns, Jerry had the expectation that he would eventually be installing air washers. For this purpose, he preemptively installed high-pressure fans from a different manufacturer at the time. These fans had sufficient performance but since the air washers were never installed, the fans have a relatively high-energy consumption and sound output.
With the purchase of his new fans, Jerry considered this knowledge. With a specific preference for Fiberglass fans, Jerry eventually made the decision to purchase Multifan Fiberglass Cone Fans to provide the extended barn with ventilation. One of the primary reasons he mentions for this is the energy efficiency. Jerry mounted the fans himself. The installation proved to be an easy task with two people.
