A good fan has to meet high standards. Don knows this better than anyone. For 29 years, his work has revolved around optimizing our products and ensuring the highest quality for our customers.
Don explains: "After studying mechanical engineering and 5 years as a part designer in the aerospace industry, I joined Vostermans Ventilation in 1995. I saw a lot of similarities with the aerospace industry and was looking for a people-oriented employer. A family business like Vostermans Ventilation appealed to me for this reason.
I started as a mechanical engineer and was responsible for the design of both parts and end products. This ranged from aluminum castings, motors and impellers to the complete fan. Because we manufacture a lot of the fan parts ourselves, we always had a lot of control over design and quality. As an engineer, I would deliver the aluminum casting designs directly to my colleagues at the aluminum foundry. They would then make the mold and cast the desired parts. This process still allows us to make product improvements quickly.

Today, as Global Supplier & Quality Assurance Engineer, I focus on the global quality assurance of our suppliers. We have grown tremendously as a company, so I work with a larger number of international suppliers for our various locations. I have worked with some suppliers for years. You really get to know people and trust each other completely. That's how we really build partnerships. If there is a problem in the field, our local team takes care of it first. If necessary, I step in as a central point of contact and answer questions. Then we work together to ensure a good solution and quality assurance.
The quality department has evolved in recent years. Our quality requirements for suppliers, but also for our internal processes, have become more stringent. Quality and safety are very important to us and we want to be able to guarantee this to our colleagues and customers. This is why we are constantly improving our quality management system, where we keep track of what we do and how we do it. In addition, our internal processes take into account changing EHS (Environment, Health and Safety) requirements, for which I conduct the internal audits. This is one way we continue to ensure a safe workplace for our colleagues.
Our products are constantly evolving. Looking back over the past 29 years, I am very proud of how we have grown as an organization. I feel very connected to Vostermans Ventilation as a company. This is a great motivation in my work.
