The war in Syria forced Anas Almoghrabi (31) to leave his homeland four years ago. Together with his wife and two children, he came to the Netherlands. To be able to support his family and build a new future, he started looking for work. Thanks to a partnership with the WerkgeversServicepunt Noord-Limburg, Anas was able to work for us as an assembly worker. After all, we were looking for good, enthusiastic employees. Although the Dutch language, but also the differences in culture were a challenge, there were also plenty of solutions. With language coaching on the shop floor, job seeking services from the Municipality of Venlo, involvement of colleagues and of course the commitment of Anas himself, this cooperation became a success.
"The use of status holders offers opportunities. Every entrepreneur should seize them and not be deterred by stereotyping or prejudice."
Given the strong growth we are currently experiencing, we are constantly looking for new employees. Partly because of this, we sent a personnel request to Jessica van Tol, account manager at werkgeversServicepunt Noord-Limburg. During a conversation we then discussed the possibility of employing status holders. To give potential employees a good idea of the work and our organization, we then organized a tour specifically for status holders. After the tour, short introductory talks were held between the status holders and our HR team.
Anas immediately left a good first impression with us so we were happy to offer him a chance. He was given a one-month trial placement. "With us, everyone gets equal opportunities," said Geert Vergeldt, HR manager at Vostermans.
