Sand casting process specialist at Vostermans Alu Foundries
For many companies, the corona crisis started hectically. This was also the case for a customer of ours, which is developing and implementing respiratory equipment for intensive care units in hospitals. Due to the growing need for hospital care worldwide, bringing new ventilators to the market as quickly as possible was not only in our customer's business interest, but it was even of vital importance for thousands of corona patients. We were asked to cast 700 aluminum bases for these devices in the shortest possible time.
Vostermans Alu Foundries' strength is that we have various types of casting techniques in-house and we have built up a fixed group of reliable partners in order to take care of all of our customers' needs. This came in handy when receiving this question, as Theo describes: "The question was quite complex, and we started from 0. A model, machine tools and various molds still had to be developed. Only then could we cast and mechanically rework the products subsequently, in a way that the final products meet the customer's specifications. Due to the very short lead time, the project could only succeed if all process steps could be realized first time right."
